FAQ

The system at a glance

Account-wide benefits, with individual conditions on each perk.

Earn up to 65 · spend up to 16

Each character can spend up to 16 Legacy points across all trees at launch. Keep earning past that cap for the collection reward track.

Alts open additional goals

Druid and Warrior have separate milestones. A required number of alts, or a fastest earning route, has not been verified.

Camping is a shared activity

Build campfires, contribute through professions, and share campsite buffs. Legacy perks improve parts of Camping. A Legacy unlock requirement for Camping is not established.

Shared points, individual plans

Your alts share earned Legacy points and choose their perks separately. Hardcore progress stays distinct; Standard progress cannot carry back into Hardcore.

Not known yet

  • Later caps. 16 at launch. Blizzard says caps will grow in later patches, with no dates given.
  • Rank cost. This planner counts one point per rank. Client data does not say what a rank costs.
  • The six “?” nodes. The client has them, with no name and no effect, marked to be added in a future update.
  • Unlearning. The client has an error for unlearning a perk (Talented cannot be removed while the character would owe talent points), so a plan can change. The cost is not shown.
  • Talented. In build 1.60.1.69913 it is a node with five one-rank choices, from level 9 down to 5. This planner treats it as five ranks until the game shows otherwise.

Questions

How do I earn Legacy points?

Complete Legacy challenges. Reported categories include exploration, class leveling, tradeskills, PvP ranks, reputations, dungeons, and raids. The demo shows one-point rewards.

Are Legacy Points account-wide?

Yes. The points are shared across your characters. Each character spends them separately in its own trees.

Does Hardcore share Legacy Points?

One way only. Progress earned in Hardcore can become available in other rulesets, but progress from other rulesets does not flow into Hardcore. Hardcore itself comes after launch.

Can I eventually unlock everything?

Not at launch. Each character can spend up to 16 points, and up to 65 can be earned. Blizzard plans new challenges, new perks, and higher caps in later patches.

Do I need several characters?

That is still unverified. Class-leveling challenges are reported. Multiple characters are not treated as a universal requirement.

Does Talented give more than 51 class talent points?

No. Every rank keeps the 51-point cap. Rank 1 starts talent points at level 9 instead of 10, and each rank moves that one level earlier, down to level 5 at rank 5. The class talent calculator is unaffected.

Can I reset my choices?

In-game refund rules and costs remain unknown. Reset here only clears this plan. A rank cannot be removed while another perk still needs it.
