Crimson Desert Storage Guide: How to Store Items and Manage Inventory
Crimson Desert does not yet offer a full world storage system. The Private Storage Chest (up to 240 items) and the Supply Chest at Howling Hill are your main tools, plus inventory expansion and smart bag habits.
Quick Answer
There is no full storage system yet. World chests and house furniture are mostly decorative. Use the Private Storage Chest (240 slots, unlocks with story). Pearl Abyss has confirmed a proper storage update is coming, with no date announced.
Does Crimson Desert Have Storage?
Loot and crafting fill bags fast. House cabinets and drawers do not store items yet. Wooden chests in the world are not functional storage. A future update should add real storage; Day 1 patch did not include it.
Private Storage Chest
| Chapter | Location | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Chapters 1 and 2 | Freesword Encampment | Temporary |
| Chapter 3 onward | Howling Hill Camp | Permanent |
At Howling Hill after Chapter 3, the chest becomes a reliable 240-slot buffer. That camp is also where several Mysterious Energy puzzles and Abyss Nexus unlocks tie in — worth doing while you are there.
Supply Chest at Howling Hill
The Supply Chest auto-collects items you missed during events like camp liberations. You cannot manually deposit into it. Think of it like a lost-loot pickup, not a bank.
House Edit Mode Workaround
If you own a house, edit mode can temporarily place some objects inside. This is not real storage and should not be relied on long term.
Expand Inventory
Kliff starts with 50 slots; each item uses one slot.
- Side quests: often ~3 slots each. Hernand has many Commission quests.
- Inventory Pouches: 50 copper at Rhett's Equipment Shop and Alden's Provisioner's Shop.
Players report roughly 80 slots within the first 8 to 9 hours by mixing quests and pouches.
What Does Not Count Toward Main Inventory
Purple key items and side-quest fliers do not count against the main cap. Sub-inventory holds:
- Abyss Gears, Treasure Maps, Bounty Posters, Documents, Quest Items
Management Tips
- Open pouches immediately so they become slots.
- Discard finished quest letters and fliers.
- Learn recipes from books, then sell duplicate recipe books.
- Sell or upgrade at smithy and merchants regularly.
- Limit stackable commons (e.g. cloth) to one or two stacks.
- Use silver to open Abyss Gear slots on unused armor.
- Sell Trade Goods at Goldleaf Trading Outposts.
- Contribute Packaged Trade Goods at Greymane Camp; stash trade goods on your horse or wagon when needed.
