What Is Abyss without Balance in Crimson Desert

Abyss without Balance is a Main Quest in Crimson Desert's Chapter 1, picking up right after Polar Opposites. Alustin sends Kliff out to restore the Abyss. This is the most mechanically involved quest so far: a skybridge, floating island traversal, two Abyss Artifacts, and a new skill to learn mid-quest. Plan to take your time with the platforming sections.

  • 02 Activate the Abyss Nexus

Full Walkthrough

01 Go Through the Skybridge Gate

After Alustin finishes talking, you'll be placed back outside the Axiom Archive. Pass through the gate and approach the alignment device at the far edge of the path. Use Axiom Force (Left Analog Stick click) to grab it, then rotate with the Right Analog Stick until you hear a clicking or high-pitched sound. Hold steady until it locks in, similar to cracking a combination lock. A cutscene shows the rest of the bridge forming; cross it to reach the first floating island.

There's a fair amount of platforming and ledge-grabbing to get across, so don't rush it. When you reach the first island and hit what looks like a dead end, wait there. A slow-moving platform travels diagonally up to the next island. Let it come back to you, board it, and ride it up. A second identical platform follows right after. After clearing both, turn right and step onto the Ethereal Pathway to teleport forward. Continue jumping across platforms until you reach a larger island with a pedestal.

02 Activate the Abyss Nexus

Step onto the pedestal on the larger floating island. That's all there is to it here. No puzzle, just activate it and move on.

03 Remove the Wall Blocking the Floor

Step down from the pedestal and look for a glowing blue cube floating in the center of the area. That's the power core. Grab it with Axiom Force and carry it over to the deactivated lantern nearby. Attach it to the lantern and hold until the lantern powers back on. The wall blocking the floor will drop.

04 Activate the Abyss Power Supply

Drop down below and use Axiom Force to grab the Abyss Cell from the bottom. Carry it to the wall at the rightmost corner. You'll see a hologram showing someone doing a Force Palm move. Get close enough to observe it by pressing L1 to learn Force Palm through the Watch and Learn system. Once you have the move, position the Abyss Cell correctly on the wall and hit it with Force Palm to lock it in place.

The circular device above is now powered. Climb up onto it and use Force Palm on it directly. When it activates, it shifts from yellow to blue and the recoil throws Kliff back. That's the confirmation it worked.

05 Take the Abyss Artifact

Head back up and collect the Abyss Artifact from atop the stairs. Picking it up ends the quest. The talking bird from Polar Opposites lands on the Ethereal Pathway and reveals herself as White Crow the Witch.

Tips and Notes

Completing this quest finishes both the Axiom Archive and Ethereal Pathway challenges, each awarding an Abyss Artifact. Force Palm is also learned here and carries forward into future quests.
